performance data and Assessments
The level of progress children are expected to have attained by the end of their reception year is defined by the early learning goals, or ELGs. Early Learning Goals are formally assessed at the end of the reception year.
In Year 1, children will take part in the phonics screening check in June. The phonics screening check is a check of children's phonics knowledge. It helps the school confirm whether your child is making the progress expected in the national curriculum.
Throughout the year teachers will make on-going assessments about children's progress through the curriculum. This helps them to identify any areas that may need further support and plan appropriately to address this.
