Geography
We use a creative topic- based curriculum which provides opportunities to explore the world in which we live. It enables our children to gain a sense of who they are whist developing an understanding of how people, places and communities are connected both locally and globally.
Through our Geography teaching, we aim to inspire our children to develop a curiosity about the world and its people, learn about the world and how it works and why it is changing and understand how they can contribute to creating a better future. We learn about our local environment and find out about the place we live. Children use their observational skills to discuss their immediate surroundings, use and make maps and identify and compare the physical human features. We use maps, globes and aerial photographs to learn about the countries that make up the UK, other countries, continents and the oceans.
We hold themed days where children are immersed in the tastes, sights and sounds of different countries.
