Priory Infant School

Welcome from Our Senco

At Priory Infant School we strive to ensure that all children are enabled to reach their full potential. All the staff at Priory Infant School work towards the goal that we can meet the needs of all our children.  We do this in a variety of ways.
Firstly, our class teachers provide stimulating, active lessons which engage our pupils and build on prior learning.  The teachers scaffold learning and ensure the pace is appropriate for their pupils.  When needed, our teachers are skilled at planning additional interventions that ensure children develop their understanding of particular areas of learning and concepts.  Within our staff team, we have a number of specialists who can support our pupils.  These include teachers and teaching assistants who specialise in Nurture/Well- being support, Speech & Language development and Autism. Our staff also have a wealth of knowledge that includes specific learning difficulties such as Dyscalculia and Dyslexia.  We are able to implement intervention that support children experiencing particular difficulties with their learning.
We have strong links with other professionals and are able to call on the expertise of the Thanet Inclusion Support Service (TISS).  These Specialist Teachers work with myself and the school staff to ensure that the right provision is in place to support all our pupils.  Within my role I can also make referrals to other medical professionals such as the Speech and Language Service and our Community Paediatrician team to seek appropriate diagnosis if needed.
We believe in working closely with parents as a partnership between home and school best supports our pupils. If you need further advice or would like to contact me, please call the school office or email me senco@priory.kent.sch.uk

We look forward to working closely with you to support your children.
